First Overnight

Okay.. so I am trying to update thru the radio... typing is a challenge.. the seas are as predicted and not bad... not what I am used to, but not bad. I have been sea sick since we left SF, but not so bad that I can't function. Chris has been a trooper, cooking dinner, water coloring with the kids, singing and listening to the radio. I am keeping watch and focusing on the horizon or sleeping. I hope to be able to pull my weight soon. Everyone else seems to have adjusted so quickly to being out on the boat. Lexi and tristan are giggling and playing in the cockpit. Amaia and Alina are reading, playing pollypockets and watching movies. Kla is so great and helped with the overnight watches last night so we are all taking turns sleeping during the day so we can do it again. It is pretty pleasant out here. Winds 12 - 18 knots with some wind waves and what seems like 3m swells... needless to say there is no school today. Maybe when we get to the channel islands we will do a few make up days. We should be there tomorrow around 4 if all goes well.

Take care.

  2. Not sure my post went through.? As I was saying... Your sailmail worked! And I love the updates. It's no longer, "We're going to do this," but "We ARE doing this". Congratulations are in order, but you probably don't have any room on board for champagne, what with the water colors and other necessary supplies. ;) Heath, even on the ocean, you are the uber mom! (I'm picturing glitter art done on your kitchen floor. Oh lord, you didn't pack glitter, did you?) And Chris is definitely super dad. But whoever does night watch should get to say to him, "I'm the captain now!" (Did you see the movie Captain Phillips?) Well, I'm typing as if I'm having a conversation so I should stop now. Just know that I think of you daily and we wish you continued smooth sailing - and no more sea sickness! xoxoxo

  3. The Beckingers are thinking of you and send you a version of this old Irish prayer:
May the seas rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon you.
    And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
