Hello Everyone,
Well it is finally time. Our weather window has opened and we are ready to untie the dock lines. We went out to dinner tonight to celebrate our last meal in New Zealand. The older kids (Tristan and Alexia) split off from us and went to a late movie. Thought it would be fun to go out with a little show. Anyway we have been working so hard the last month getting the boat ready to shove off shore again and I am glad to say that we are in good shape and ready to blow.
I believe we are all ready to get out of here and into some warm weather. The kids have been a little anxious and I think that comes with our neglect as parents as we are so busy with jobs and chaos on the boat and the projects that need to be completed. The kids are amazing and still in good spirits and are ready to make a change of scenery.
Since we haven't been out on the water for so long, we will all need to get our sea legs again. I will be dosing the kids with sea sick meds for the first 2 -3 days in order to get them used to the motion again. I have prepared 6 chicken noodle soup dinners and have a lot of top ramon, 7-up, ginger snaps and chips on the boat. We have also added an additional water filter to add minerals back into our water to make it taste as close to regular water you can get from a water maker. That is the one thing that I have a hard time with on the boat when I am sick. I really need to have good water.
We will be leaving on Thursday for our 7 day passage to Vanuatu. The weather and swells at this time seem to be in our favor so I am crossing my fingers and hoping for sunshine, sunsets, full moons and Dolphins escorting us north jumping along side our boat breaking the bio luminescence in the water and leaving that magical trail you see in the cartoons. I am sure all our days and nights will be this surreal.
Wish us fair winds and calm seas and a fast ride (although those don't go hand in hand). We will be updating as we go with our single side band radio so no pictures except for the ones my amazing writing helps you to imagine.. Hee Hee.
Hope all is well with everyone at home.
Hugs and love,
Heather
Okay, I am smiling ear to ear from your line: sunshine, sunsets, full moons and Dolphins escorting us north jumping along side our boat breaking the bio luminescence in the water and leaving that magical trail you see in the cartoons... What an image!!! It just shows how far you've come, that you can't wait to be back on the water. Arrrgghhh, ahoy, matey! Speaking of pirates, if the water tastes bad, try the rum. ;) I'm also smiling for selfish reasons, because you're nearing the end of your adventure and will be home within months. I know it will be a tough transition (sadly, no dolphins in Lafayette) but we're here to help you through it. Surely the large automatic washer/dryer will be nice to get home to? If you want, I'll help edit your travel log to create a manuscript. I may have told you this already, but I was recently reading an email that asked, "What would your life look like if you let go of fear?" You guys have not allowed fear or any other obstacle to get in the way of achieving your dreams. I'd say that puts you in a very small, elite group of people who can truly claim they LIVE life, instead of just letting life happen. And dammit, you've got the tattoos to prove it!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the passage. Looking forward to seeing the photos of Vanuatu. Much love to everyone! xoxo ~ Kathi
